The divine is not something high above us. It is in heaven, it is in earth, it is inside us.

Wolf Moon Dojo:
A homegrown dojo.
In 1998 a fourteen year old boy was introduced to a martial art that would become his life passion. Over Twenty-five years later, a dream is finally coming true.
The Wolf Moon Dojo’s aim is to provide a space for those that wish to learn the Art of Peace and to pursue the refinement of their character through the martial discipline of Aikido. Beyond mere physical self-defence, students of the Wolf Moon Dojo train together to achieve the most important victory of all – over one’s self.
Our Motto
Practicing Aikido for the simple joy of practicing Aikido.
About Our Name
Wolves are inspiring creatures of incredible beauty, grace and power. A fierce protector and guardian, though the lone wolf is a common trope, the true power of the wolf lies in the strength of its community – the wolf pack. The wolf is a cooperative animal, it works with its pack in the pursuit of its goals and adjusts the course as a reaction to its surroundings and current condition.
The wolf can be thought of as both a benevolent and malevolent spirit. It can be perceived as a guardian when it is properly attended to and cared for or can develop a grudge if slighted or mistreated. The wolf can thus be a mirror of ourselves and a reminder to attend to and care for one’s self in body, mind, heart and spirit.
As widely known an image and most commonly accompanying the wolf is the full moon. The moon itself often symbolizes the night, change and inner enlightenment. Traditionally, full moons are seen as a chance to harvest and enjoy the fruits of one’s labor, as well as a time to reflect on choices and forge a new path. The first full moon of January is often called the Wolf Moon. As January is the start of the new year, there also exists the underlying notion of beginner’s mind (shosin) in the name Wolf Moon.
Thus, as the wolf is a reflection of our own spirit and the full moon a symbol of our opportunities, we have adopted the name “Wolf Moon Dojo” as a constant reminder of the aim of our training. We hope, regardless of our level, to train with openness, eagerness and lack of preconceptions when studying aikido and to enjoy both the abundance of life and our own efforts.
Welcome
We are currently a “homegrown” dojo, operating out of a garage (and the occasional public park,) slowly growing into a proper, traditional dojo. We invite men and women of all ages and backgrounds to train with us and hope to offer our humble venue as a place dedicated to personal improvement.
We may be one of the newest martial art schools, with plans to begin offering classes in 2021, but we have tremendous aspirations to grow and become a pillar in our community – if only in small but meaningful ways.
